Walk in the morning, snorkel in the afternoon

Updated 24 October 2026

A Komodo trekking and snorkeling trip on Raffles Cruise fits four walks and four snorkels into 3 days. On foot: Padar, Komodo, Pimpe and Kelor. Afloat: Sebayur first, then Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Pink Beach. The whole boat for four is IDR 115,000,000 (≈ USD 7,055).

Ask about the route

Walks on all three days

Count the walks on the 3-day route. Padar at sunrise on day two. The Komodo walk with a ranger that day too. Pimpe Island the same afternoon. Kelor on the last morning, with free time. That is four, spread across two days.

Day one has no walk at all. It is three snorkels. Day two carries most of the legwork, and the second day of every overnight route opens with the Padar walk at sunrise, before breakfast.

The walks are short. Park data puts the Padar climb to its main viewpoint at 25 to 45 minutes. Komodo runs from 45 to 120 minutes, according to the trail the ranger picks. Kelor is 15 to 30 minutes up a steep hill. Pimpe has no figure in our park notes, so we state none.

None of this is a fitness test. At Komodo the ranger sets the pace. Which stop comes when is the captain's decision.

The snorkels that fall between the walks

In the water, the active guest is treated like any other. The crew fits a life jacket and snorkelling gear, anyone who is not a confident swimmer keeps the jacket on, and the crew decides when and where you go in. The snorkel stops are 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the place.

Sebayur opens day one with a shallow reef, an easy swim for a first morning. Manta Point is next and asks more. The current is strong, you drift along the reef, and the park data suits confident swimmers. Whether mantas are there is the sea's decision.

Taka Makassar follows with its sandbar and shallow reef around it. On day two, Pink Beach offers a snorkel or a paddleboard, and two stand-up boards are aboard for the guest who wants to work the arms.

Between the stops the boat sails, and that is the rest.

The 3D2N for active guests

Day one, from 09:30: Sebayur, lunch, Manta Point, a snack, Taka Makassar, dinner. Day two: Padar at sunrise, breakfast, Pink Beach, lunch, Komodo, Pimpe, a snack, Kalong at sunset, dinner. Day three: breakfast, Kelor, lunch and the harbour around midday.

The order inside each day is set, and the stop order on the water is the captain's. Weather, currents and National Park or port decisions can move a stop.

In July the Padar sunrise is 06:18, and in November it is 05:31. The tender leaves about 65 minutes ahead of it.

Pace, shoes and water

Sandals will not do for Padar or Komodo. The bring list reads: footwear fit for trekking, a backpack, cash for emergencies, medicines of your own and sunblock. Closed shoes with grip handle the loose ground.

Carry water in the backpack. Soft drinks are included on the boat, and bottled water is not listed, so ask us what is on board before you rely on it.

Pace is the guest's own. A guest who wants to skip a walk tells the crew the evening before, and the boat is a pleasant place to wait. Park entry is paid per visitor, IDR 250,000 for a foreign visitor, and it is never in the fare.

Dinner and breakfast are served every day. Alcohol is yours to bring.

Which length for an active party

The 3-day route holds four walks and four snorkels, which makes it the best-balanced length for an active party. The 4-day route adds the Gili Lawa walk on day two and the Mawan snorkel on day three, and it ends with the beach dinner at Sebayur.

The full day is one walk at Padar, one at Komodo and one snorkel at Pink Beach, in a day that starts at 05:00. The 2-day route holds the Kelor and Padar walks, the Komodo walk, and two snorkels.

For four guests, the 3-day route is IDR 115,000,000 (≈ USD 7,055) for the boat on the 2026 card, or IDR 28,750,000 (≈ USD 1,764) each. Park tickets, the guide and the documentation are outside. The table shows every length by head count.

FAQ

How hard is the Padar climb?

The park data rates it moderate. Expect 25 to 45 minutes of climbing, over ground that is loose and steep in places. Departure from the boat is 65 minutes before sunrise, so bring a headtorch for the dark first stretch.

How many walks are on a 3-day trip?

Four: Padar at sunrise, the Komodo walk with a ranger, Pimpe Island on day two, and Kelor on the last morning. Day one is three snorkels. The captain sets the stop order on the day.

What shoes should I bring?

Closed shoes with grip. The bring list asks for sandals or shoes for trekking, and Padar and Komodo are where sandals are the wrong choice. Add sunblock, a hat and water in a backpack.

Can I skip a walk?

Yes, in the sense that nothing forces anyone up a hill. Tell the crew the evening before. The boat stays at the stop while the others walk, and the paddleboards are there for a guest who waits.

Is a 4-day trip better for active guests?

It adds two stops: the Gili Lawa walk and the Mawan snorkel, plus a night. The 3-day trip already holds four walks and four snorkels. Choose the 4 days if you want the beach dinner at Sebayur and a slower pace.
