Pink Beach: a snorkel or a paddleboard, on the day it is planned
Updated 24 October 2026
Yes, you can swim at Pink Beach, Komodo. Raffles Cruise stops there on every length, with a snorkel on the full day, the 2-day and the 4-day trips, and a snorkel or a paddleboard on the 3-day trip. Some call it Long Beach; the shallow reef starts a few strokes from the sand.
Pink Beach on each sailing
Pink Beach is on all four lengths, always in the middle of the day. On the full day it follows the Padar walk and lunch, with a snack and the Komodo walk after it.
On the 2-day trip it falls on day two, after the Padar sunrise, breakfast and lunch. On the 3-day trip it is day two as well, straight after the Padar walk and breakfast, with lunch, Komodo, Pimpe and the Kalong sunset to follow. On the 4-day trip it is day two again, with lunch and the Komodo walk afterwards.
Long Beach is the stop's other name, and on the 3-day trip the line reads snorkelling or paddle boarding at Long Beach. The captain sets the running order from the tide and the current.
Swimming off the sand
Shallow reef begins a few strokes from the sand, over water 1 to 8 m deep, and the current is mild. The park data rates the stop easy and open to every level. A first-time snorkeller can stay in the shallows and still see reef.
The planning range for the snorkel is 45 to 90 minutes. Mornings bring calmer water and softer light than the afternoon, one reason the 3-day trip puts the stop straight after the sunrise walk and breakfast.
Below, the pictures are of the place, not of the boat: the sand, the water and the reef edge.

Snorkel or paddleboard
In the water, everyone who wants to goes in. The crew hands out life jackets and snorkelling gear, and a guest who is not a confident swimmer wears the life jacket in the shallows, within reach of the crew. The crew decides when and where you go in, and calls the time you spend there.
A paddleboard is the dry option. Two stand-up paddleboards are aboard, and on the 3-day trip the choice is spelled out: snorkelling or paddle boarding at Long Beach. With two boards a party takes turns, and a guest who would rather stay on top of the water loses nothing of the bay.
The 2-day, 4-day and full-day routes list snorkelling only. If a board matters on one of those lengths, write to us, and the answer reaches you in writing before you pay.
Colour, light and the tide
Pale pink, not bright pink, is the colour of the sand. Crushed red coral gives the tint, and how much shows depends on the light and the height of the tide. A photograph at a low sun and a high tide shows more than one taken at noon.
Do not expect a sweet-shop shade. This is a good snorkelling beach first, and the pink is its second feature.
Park entry is bought per person. Ticket price, foreign visitor: IDR 250,000. Indonesian citizens: IDR 50,000 on weekdays, IDR 75,000 at weekends and on public holidays. None of it sits in the fare, and ranger and pier charges are added separately.
FAQ
Can you swim at Pink Beach?
Yes. The reef is close to the shore, the water is 1 to 8 m deep and the current is mild. A weak swimmer keeps a life jacket on, and the crew picks the moment and the spot for entering the water. A paddleboard is the dry option.
Is the sand really pink?
Pale pink, a tint that crushed red coral gives the sand. Light and tide change the shade, and it reads paler than the photographs that circulate online. Morning light is softer and shows it better.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes. The park data rates Pink Beach easy and open to every level, with shallow reef near the sand and a mild current. It is the best first swim on the route for a guest who has never snorkelled.
What is the best time of day?
Morning, when the water is calmer and the light softer. The 3-day trip places the stop right after the sunrise walk and breakfast, which puts the swim in the morning. The captain fixes the running order once he has read the water.
Is Pink Beach on every length?
Yes: the full day, the 2-day, the 3-day and the 4-day trip. It is a snorkel on all four, and the 3-day trip adds paddle boarding as an alternative. Ask us before you pay if you want a board on another length.
