Komodo: a ranger-led walk to the wild dragons, on every length of the trip
Updated 24 October 2026
The Komodo Island trek comes as a short, medium or long ranger-led route, and Raffles Cruise includes the walk on every length. The park ticket is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor. The ranger chooses the trail, and a dragon sighting is never guaranteed.
Komodo on each sailing
The full day puts the Komodo walk in the afternoon, after Pink Beach and a snack, and ends back in Labuan Bajo that same evening. On the 2-day trip it is part of day two, after the Padar sunrise, Pink Beach and a snack, with Taka Makassar or Manta Point next.
On the 3-day trip it is day two after lunch, with the Pimpe walk afterwards. On the 4-day trip it is also day two, after lunch, and a snack and the Gili Lawa walk follow it.
The captain sets the order from the tide and the park's decisions. On every route the Komodo walk follows the Pink Beach swim.
Short, medium and long trails
Every guided trek sets off from the ranger station at Loh Liang. The park offers a short, a medium and a long trail, and the shorter ones suit a day trip. The planning range is 45 to 120 minutes, and the difficulty is easy.
The ranger chooses the trail from the party, the heat and the park's rules, and a guest does not walk without one. The dragons are wild. This is not a zoo, so sightings are never guaranteed, and no one on the boat can promise one.
The table below lists the facts from the park data. A guest who wants the long trail asks the ranger at the station, and the answer is the ranger's.
- Best window
- morning
- Time ashore / in water
- 45–120 min
- Difficulty
- easy
- Tide
- Not tide-dependent
- Busiest months
- July, August, December
What it is not: not a zoo: the dragons are wild and sightings are likely but never guaranteed · no trekking without a park ranger

What to wear for the walk
In the water, nothing is asked of you at this stop. The snorkel at Pink Beach comes before the walk on every route, so change out of wet swimwear before you land. Snorkelling gear stays aboard.
Wear closed shoes and long sleeves, or use sunscreen. There is little shade on the trails. The bring list asks for sandals or shoes for trekking, a backpack, sunblock and personal medicines, and a hat and a bottle of water belong in the backpack.
A child walks with a parent, and the ranger sets the pace. Give us the child's age at booking, and the plan comes back to you in writing.
The ticket and the ranger
Park entry is paid per person under Government Regulation 36 of 2024. A foreign ticket is IDR 250,000. An Indonesian citizen pays IDR 50,000 from Monday to Friday, then IDR 75,000 on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
Ranger charges and further levies are billed on their own and can change. We register your names and passport numbers in the park's online system, and the ticket is never in the fare. Komodo caps daily visitors by time session, and we check that cap against your date.
The park tickets page holds the full tariff and a calculator for your party.
