Raffles Cruise

Fifty-four answers, in nine groups, before you board

Updated 24 October 2026

This Komodo liveaboard FAQ answers 54 questions about Raffles Cruise: six cabins for up to 14 guests, the whole-boat and open-trip prices, snorkelling for non-swimmers, the routes and the park tickets. What this page cannot settle, our written confirmation settles ahead of payment.

Send your party size

Three facts to send with your first message

Most questions below end the same way: tell us the date, the head count and the swim level of your party. With those three facts every other answer becomes exact, from the cabin plan to the hour the car arrives.

Every price here is the figure on the card in force, not an estimate. A few points are settled for your booking alone, and those are confirmed in writing before you pay. That covers the cabin for each extra bed, the open-trip pickup hour, and the guide and documentation on a charter.

The answers are short on purpose. If yours is not here, the contact page lists the two WhatsApp numbers, and a single line is a fair start.

Asking about a particular date

To answer about dates we need three facts: the dates or the month, your head count, and one open-trip cabin or the whole boat. With those we tell you whether the boat is free, which open-trip departure sits nearest, and which card applies.

Sailings up to 31 December 2026 use the 2026 card. Sailings from 1 January 2027 use the 2027 card, already published. Dates from June to September 2027 sit on the higher card; the figure is printed on the card and we send it to you. January and February 2027 are quoted on request.

We reply on WhatsApp or by email, with a cabin plan for your party and a list of what the fare leaves out.

Months, sea and weather

Which months suit snorkelling best?

April to June, and October and November, bring a calm sea and high visibility. September is a strong shoulder month. The when-to-go page has a line for every month.

Are mantas more likely in some months?

Our park notes mark two manta seasons: December to February and July to September. Those months also bring more wind or more rain, and no month turns the season into a promise. The sea decides on the day.

How rough is the sea in the wet season?

December to February is the roughest water of the year, with heavy showers and lower visibility. On the day the captain sets the stop order and picks the shelter, while the harbour master can suspend sailings with one day's notice.

Does the route change with the weather?

Yes. A destination can change because of weather, currents, or a ruling from the National Park or the port. The captain decides the stop order on the day, and we tell you what changed.

What should I do if I feel seasick?

Tell the crew early, stay in the fresh air on deck and keep your eyes on the horizon. Bring your own medicine: personal medicines are on the bring list, and none is carried for guests.

When does the sun rise over Padar in July?

06:18. As a planning range, the tender leaves 65 minutes before sunrise, and the climb up to the main viewpoint lasts 25 to 45 minutes.

On board: crew, meals, children

How many crew sail with the boat?

A crew of 8. Their roles are on request. The crew works for the boat, and PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia arranges the booking, the payment and the pickup.

Which meals are served each day?

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes. Alcoholic drinks are not included, and you can bring your own. Soft drinks during the trip are included.

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

Local Wi-Fi on board; the connection depends on mobile coverage and is not promised. Download what you need before you board, and tell anyone expecting a call that the signal comes and goes between the islands.

Do children under 3 pay?

A child up to age 2 sails free when a parent or guardian is aboard. From age 3 the full fare applies. Send the ages and the head count comes back in writing. A child still needs somewhere to sleep on an overnight trip.

How do guests fill the time aboard between stops?

Snorkelling, swimming and the water

Can I snorkel if I am not a confident swimmer?

Yes, in a life jacket, which helps you float, and the crew decides when and where you go in. Shallow stops such as Pink Beach and Taka Makassar suit a first swim. Manta Point has a strong current: on the open trip the guide swims with the party, and on a charter you ask for a guide or stay aboard.

Is snorkelling gear provided?

Snorkelling gear and life jackets are part of the fare, along with two stand-up paddleboards. Fins are not listed separately, so ask us if fins matter to you.

Who goes into the water with me?

The crew decides when and where you go in, and calls the time in the water. On the open trip the local guide swims with the party. On a charter the guide is priced separately, on request; without one, stay aboard at Manta Point.

Are manta rays guaranteed at Manta Point?

No. Manta rays visit the park. No sighting is promised. Manta Point is on the route, on the afternoon of day one of the 3-day trip, and the crew and guide choose the time to go in.

Are there paddleboards for guests who prefer to stay on top of the water?

Yes. Two stand-up paddleboards are aboard. On the 3-day route Pink Beach is by snorkel or paddleboard, and the last morning at Kelor allows the same.

Do I need to dive to enjoy this trip?

No. The route is built around snorkelling, walks and sunsets, and there are no tanks on board. Divers who need tanks and a compressor should look at another boat.

Tickets, flights and arriving

What do the park tickets cost?

Is the airport pickup included?

Whole-boat prices and the two cards

What does the whole boat cost for 4 guests?

On the 2026 card, 3 days costs IDR 115,000,000 (≈ USD 7,055) for the boat, which is IDR 28,750,000 (≈ USD 1,764) each at 4 guests. The 2027 card is IDR 125,000,000 (≈ USD 7,669) for up to 12 guests, from March to May and October to December. Park tickets are outside both.

What does each guest pay at 12 guests?

At 12 guests the 3-day boat is IDR 125,000,000 (≈ USD 7,669) on the 2026 card, which is IDR 10,420,000 (≈ USD 639) each. On the 2027 card the boat is IDR 125,000,000 (≈ USD 7,669) in the low months; divide it by your head count.

What do the 13th and 14th guests cost?

Each guest above 12 pays one fare per trip, the same on both cards: IDR 3,000,000 (≈ USD 184) on the full day, IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) on 2 days, IDR 5,500,000 (≈ USD 337) on 3 days and IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) on 4 days. For 14 guests on 3 days: IDR 125,000,000 (≈ USD 7,669) + 2 × IDR 5,500,000 (≈ USD 337) = IDR 136,000,000 (≈ USD 8,344).

Is the full-day price the same all year?

On the 2027 card, yes: the full day is IDR 60,000,000 (≈ USD 3,681) all year, so it does not rise in June to September. The 2026 card prices it by head count, from IDR 55,000,000 (≈ USD 3,374) for 1 to 4 guests.

Does the charter fare cover the guide and photo documentation?

No. A private charter fare leaves out the local guide and any photo or video work; each is priced apart, on request. On the open trip both come with the seat, confirmed in writing before you pay. Park tickets are in neither fare.

What changes on the 2027 card?

The 2027 card covers sailings from 1 January 2027 and sets one price for 1 to 12 guests. The 2-day, 3-day and 4-day trips cost more from June to September. The 2027 summer card is higher, so ask for the printed figure and we reply on WhatsApp. January and February are quoted on request.
